The Peaks of Europe is a famous mountain range that was historically the first part of Europe sailors returning from the Americas would see. It is known for its rugged beauty and is home to shepherds who produce the coveted and expensive cheese, Gamonel del Puerto, which is smoked and aged in mountain caves.The Picos de Europa is a famous mountain range in northern Spain, known for its stunning peaks and rich biodiversity. It was the first sight of Europe for sailors returning from the Americas. The area is known for traditional shepherding and cheese-making, particularly Gamonel del Puerto cheese. Mountain huts in the range are used for tending herds and smoking cheese.
